Understanding Product Licensing: Subscription vs. Perpetual License

When selecting a license, it’s essential to know the differences between a Subscription and a Perpetual License. Below is a breakdown of each option to help you make an informed decision.

Subscription

  1. Duration: Valid for a set period (e.g., 1 year).
  2. Expiration: Once the term ends, the license becomes invalid, and the product can no longer be used.
  3. Support & Upgrades: Included only during the active subscription period.
  4. Renewal: To keep using the product, you must renew the subscription.

Perpetual License

  1. Duration: Valid indefinitely with no time limit.
  2. Usage: Grants access to all versions of the product while the subscription is active. After support ends, you can continue using the current versions available up to the license expiration date.
  3. Support & Upgrades: Available only during the active subscription period. Afterward, you can purchase an extension to access new versions.
