Understanding Product Licensing: Subscription vs. Perpetual License
When selecting a license, it’s essential to know the differences between a Subscription and a Perpetual License. Below is a breakdown of each option to help you make an informed decision.
Subscription
- Duration: Valid for a set period (e.g., 1 year).
- Expiration: Once the term ends, the license becomes invalid, and the product can no longer be used.
- Support & Upgrades: Included only during the active subscription period.
- Renewal: To keep using the product, you must renew the subscription.
Perpetual License
- Duration: Valid indefinitely with no time limit.
- Usage: Grants access to all versions of the product while the subscription is active. After support ends, you can continue using the current versions available up to the license expiration date.
- Support & Upgrades: Available only during the active subscription period. Afterward, you can purchase an extension to access new versions.
